Trip to Kazakhstan: Tour 8

Day 1: Almaty  
Kazakhstan is glad to see travelers on a tour. The driver will meet you and transfer to a city. Today you will have a guided tour and visit the Green Bazaar. Then we will visit one of the oldest Almaty parks - Panfilov Park, where one of the most stunning wooden buildings in the world as Zenkov Cathedral. Then see the Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame. In the afternoon we will travel to the Medeo Gorge, well recognized due to the premier mountain skating rink in the world and the dam, shielding the city from unsafe mudflows. Later on, we will visit Kok Tobe hill where the tallest TV tower in the world is located. In Kok Tobe Park you can enjoy lengthwise the twisting tracks of the park. Then you can have a short ride from the top of the hill to the center of the city by the famous Almaty cableway. Rest is in a hotel.

Day 2: Almaty - Kaindy   
In the morning we will travel to Kolsai Lakes by crossing over 300 km from Almaty to Saty settlement (5-6 hours). On the way you will have an idea to stop in a village to sense the atmosphere of a local market. When you arrive to Saty you will change the vehicle to one of AWD local cars, such as "UAZ" or "PAZ" which belong to Russian car models. We will drive via mountain road (12 km) to Kaindy Lake. Kaindy Lake (birch lake) is located amid wonderful pine forest at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and is famed for its source. It was molded in 1911 due to the prevailing tremor that caused the avalanche obstructed the valley by the natural dam, and the water has flooded the valley. Overnight is in a guesthouse.

Day 3: Kaindy - Kolsai  
Kolsai Lakes - "Pearls of the Northern Tien Shan" epitomize a form of three lakes. The prime lake is available for all guests. It is the most fine-looking lake, having a lack of development and the profusion of mushrooms. The water in the lakes is icy and dirt-free and is home for the rainbow trout. In the around mountains you can see Marals, mountain goats, wolves and even bears. On arrival to Kolsay 3 Lake you will get short coaching, you will start the trekking. The route is located on the bank of the lake and remains with the trail over the pine forest, alpine meadows along pure mountain river rolling all the way down from Kolsai 2 Lake. The whole walking distance between two lakes is about 7 km and usually takes 3-3,5 hours one way. An altitude rises up more than 400 m, from 1818 m above sea level at the first lake to 2250 m at the second lake. There is no group of struggle and direction is reachable for healthful, average-trained people. In the afternoon you will walk back to Kolsai 3 Lake and back to Saty settlement. Rest.  

Day 4: Kolsai - Charyn - Kegen border
In the morning is a journey to Charyn Canyon on a comfortable car or minivan. It will take about 2 hours to arrive the canyon. On the way to the canyon you will have a chance to visit the local museum of old-style ornate and practical arts and crafts. Upon arrival to Charyn Canyon, you will esteem the impressive panorama and go down stairs to the lowest of the canyon, then walk around 2 km over the maze of the Castles Valley with its walls of unusual forms hanging you. See with several yurts (traditional dwellings) and a small open-air café, functioning in the summer time. In the end of day is transfer to Kegen border.
